There’s nothing quite like the excitement as the new year rolls in. Whether you actually stay awake to see the ball drop, or if you simply celebrate the first day of the new year, it’s the time for resolutions, fresh goals, and new beginnings.
Today is the 5th day of the new year. We haven’t even gone a week yet. And while you see this blog post, be assured that I just posted it barely on time this morning. I haven’t refined it or done anything I normally do to make it an amazing post, because I’m rushing to get it done, and worn out mentally already.

While goal-setting and being productive are good things, I can easily burn out from too much. That might seem really odd, but I think what happens is I ramp up my efforts, I set some nearly impossible goals, and set the train of progress in motion at dangerous speeds. I can travel maybe a mile like that, maybe five, before I just simply fall off the tracks.
Essentially, my brain gives up and fatigue sets in. I find that it’s too much. I went too fast too quickly, and consequently I crash and blow up in flames.
